La Chartreuse is situated in the pretty village of Calès, which is famous for its annual Flower Market on May 1st and is only 10 minutes from the spectacular cliff-side village of Rocamadour, a famous pilgrimage stop on the Camino de Santiago. La Chartreuse is an authentic stone-built 17th Century Manoir roofed with terracotta tiles and set in a 5-hectare walled garden. Bought in 2017 and fully restored in 2018, we have spent the last year renovating and decorating it with the same painstaking care and attention to detail lavished on the chateau de la Treyne and the Chateau du Bastit.
There are five large double bedrooms, four luxurious bathrooms, a fine sitting room with an open fire, and a typical French country kitchen fitted with state of the art appliances and range cooker. The elegant interior decorative scheme combines contemporary and traditional fabrics and furnishings to create the relaxing ambience of a family home. An outstanding feature is the splendid pink marble staircase and wrought iron balustrade connecting the three storeys. High ceilings, old beams and exquisite works of art sit comfortably with unobtrusive air-conditioning, WiFi and the latest technology.
The vast garden is a completely private and tranquil space with a large heated pool: an idyllic place for chilling out under a tall cedar tree, with the scent of roses and lavender in the air. Guests are welcome to use the facilities of nearby Chateau de la Treyne including a fine tennis court and the Michelin-star restaurant (advance booking required), and dogs are welcome – and safe – within the walled grounds.
